What a beautiful day. Clear blue sky. Nice and frosty on the ground. Snow on the mountains which were glowing red from the sunshine.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Bike mag
MBR has featured the
Ciaran Path ride in the last couple of issues, telling the mountain biking world about some superb riding in the Glencoe area. So before the masses arrive and spoil it, lets get a run in.

Okay, so there had been a fair bit of rain. But that's not so unusual is it? Wrong!…

The Press & Journal today reports that the original document giving the order for the
Glencoe Massacre will go on display at the National Library of Scotland this week.
The 318 year old document will be of interest to historians, but I suspect, anyone with an interest in the rich and sometimes turbulent history of Glencoe.…

Have just returned from a four day trip to Glencoe and stayed at the wonderful and friendly Loch Leven Hotel.
We only had two days to do some walking and our aim was to tackle the Pap of Glencoe and Beinn a Chrulaiste. The weather was poor on both days but we set out to complete Beinn a Chrulaiste on the Friday in continuous and sometimes heavy rain and wind. Navigation was difficult and was very grateful for my trusty GPS and the track/route I had entered into it. Several times we had to meand…

Woke up this morning wondering what was different . Took me a moment to realise that the sky has changed colour from dark grey to blue, that the sun is shining, and for the first time in about 6 weeks, its stopped raining! Wonderful!

Don't ever do it like this.
You are 12th in line behind the caravan at the front. A slow right hand bend comes up and you drift out to see if cars are coming, but you notice the car in front has edged up to make it difficult for you to overtake.
"Look at that castle over there, Dad,"
"In a minute, so…

Had a great (although short) day out scrambling on Buachaille Etive Mor today with Alex & James. We went up the obvious line of Lagangarbh Buttress, which gets a 2/3 and 2 stars in the Scrambles in Lochaber guidebook. It was well worth both stars with superb rough rock, and there's plenty of scope for more interesting variations at a harder grade. Given some lovely weather between all these low pressures, we played on everything that we could find, got some cracking views and not a single mi…

We played our first gig at the Clachaig Inn, Glencoe on saturday and we loved every minute of it. The drive up there from Perth was a scenic overload on the senses and when we finally reached the Idyllic Inn it was hard to imagine anyone would be hear. As we walked through the back door with our guitars it was obvious this is where everyone comes on a saturday night. The room was packed full of all characters and the beer was flowing and the atmosphere was rowdy, this was going to be a good nigh…

September in Scotland is usually a very good month for weather. We get an average of 104 hours of sunshine, and the temperature is around 14 degrees. Nearly 14 hours of daylight, traffic free roads, no noisy groups; there is a lovely peace about it all. Gillian and I are alway…

New blogger---
My husband and I (pictured here the day he got his Harley Davidson in Marina del Rey---USA "West Coast" in Los Angeles California) just returned to our home in Colorado, USA, from our trip to the West Coast of Scotland where we spent time in Glencoe while walking the West Highland Way and then went back for two more days/nights after we finished. What a treat---my favorite: the Fraoch! My hustand's favorite too--other than the whisky! Of course, one doesn't go to Scotland for the…

IN THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS. THESE ROUTES ARE BASED AROUND GLENCOE
All the RTGN are built on ancient trackways used for centuries, usually by drovers moving cattle and sheep to the market in Falkirk. Small communities were built on them. The remnants of these communities a…

I reckon we're finally ready for launch to the wider world. Have tweaked the layout a little and tried to make it look good and still be easy to navigate round. I've also added in a couple more features such as the ability to import photos from Flickr. And I see the membership list is gradually growing.
So, unmitigated flop or uncontrollable beast...? Enjoy!
